The MLE series are dimmable with triac phase cut dimming. Forward leading edge and reverse trailing edge dimmers, suitable for MLV, ELV dimmers Magnetic Low Voltage and Electronic Low Voltage.
As the move from traditional lighting to light emitting diodes (LEDs) accelerates and a wider range of solutions hits the market, consumers have become more selective about the products they choose. In particular, linear dimming with a wide contrast ratio and no chromaticity variation or perceptible flicker is considered the mark of a quality product.
An established technique is to dim the LED using pulse width modulation (PWM) of the forward current powering the LED. The basic premise is that during the “ON” cycle of the PWM train, the LED is operating under optimum forward current/forward voltage conditions. As a result, the quality of light is high, and the perceived brightness is linearly proportional to the PWM train’s duty cycle.
The MLE series is a PWM Constant Voltage driver designated for a single direct current (DC) output voltage, usually 12VDC or 24VDC. An LED light rated for a constant voltage requires a consistent amount of output voltage to ensure a proper operation. The driver has universal input voltage 110-277 Volts 50/60Hz for MLE and 100-130V 50/60Hz for ECV series, suitable for residential and commercial power wide world. This voltage is in the form of alternating current voltage (VAC), which the driver converts into a low direct current voltage (VDC). This means that the driver will maintain a constant voltage no matter the load current and input voltage variation. An example of a constant voltage LED driver is displayed below.

Note** The voltage is set to only one designated value.
With a set voltage, the driver will maintain a constant voltage if the current stays below the 1-amp maximum shown in the example. Most often, constant voltage drivers are implemented in signage when the amount of LED loads will vary. Constant voltage applications include Cabinet lights, Tape lights, Flex LED Strip, LED Light Bar, LED module, etc. but are not limited to those categories.
The driver has overload, short circuit and overheat self-reset protections.
